Merry Christmas from Run Leeds

Ben Fraser

A big merry Christmas from everyone at Run Leeds HQ! It’s been a fantastic year for recreational running across the city, driven by leaders, volunteers and supporters citywide.

We have seen the start of 2 thriving running groups, respectively; the Farsley Flyers and the South Leeds Lakers have become shining beacons in their local communities and an edition to the wider running community. The Flyers even took over their local parkrun in Bramley, a rite of passage for all bustling run clubs.

Run Leeds has also had the pleasure of leading on and supporting some memorable events, including; the ‘Leeds Girls Can’ International Women’s Day takeover at Trinity Leeds shopping centre. We had a blast outside the new Leeds Arena on Light Night too. And 100s of people came out in support of the late Skye Sutcliffe back on Valentine’s day.

Way back in July the project officially moved online with a dedicated website – populated with stories, opinions, tips, guides and covering groups, routes, events and everything running in-between!

Again, we would like to echo the sentiment that the above achievements would have not been possible without the perseverance and dedication of all those leaders, volunteers and project supporters that give their time and energy, week in, week out!

Here’s to an even better 2016! Happy running!
